Spruce Up Your Poolscape and Get Ready for Spring

Here are five ideas to help you freshen up your poolscape and get ready for the coming pool season:

1. Do some spring cleaning

Spring cleaning isn’t just for your house – it applies to your poolscape too! Sweep your deck or patio area to remove any debris and pressure wash to give it an extra clean look. Depending on what types of vegetation you have surrounding your pool, it could also be the perfect time to begin pruning.

If you’ve already had your last spring freeze for the year, go ahead and open your pool. When you open your pool in early spring you’ll have more time to get ready for summer and you’ll get to enjoy the beautiful, warm spring weather in your pool!

2. Check your pool equipment

Now is the perfect time to begin checking your pool equipment. If you’re comfortable doing it yourself, make sure your pumps, filters, cleaners, heaters and valves all in good working order. If you’re not sure how to do this, you can contact a local pool professional to help you, but call early – appointments will begin filling soon when the weather gets really warm!

In addition to checking your equipment, if your pool is open, make sure to inspect it as well. Make sure there are no cracks or leaks in your pool and check your main drain cover. If any repairs need to be made, now is the time to take care of them!

3. Add fresh flowers

There’s nothing that will add some pizazz to your poolscape more than throwing in some gorgeous and vibrant plants. However, make sure you’re choosing plants that you can keep up with. There’s nothing worse than purchasing something high-maintenance only to find out that you can’t keep up with it. If you live in an area that gets cold in the winter, you might want to opt for some winter hardy flowers as well.

4. Update your accessories

According to the PANTONE® Color Institute, the Spring/Summer 2020 NYFW color palette theme is bold, confident, empowering and uplifting. Using these colors as a guide, think about updating  your accessories, like rugs, umbrellas, vases, candles, drapes, towels or cushions.

Next, check out your furniture itself. What does it look like? Could it use a fresh new coat of stain or paint? Using the neutral colors (or even the bold ones) find a color that speaks to you for updating your furniture.

5. Show it all off with lighting

Finally, show off all your hard work with beautiful and vibrant lighting. Need to update your pool lighting? Pentair has lighting options to fit any style, color or pool. From energy-efficient automated LED lighting systems to incandescent lighting products, we’ve got your lighting needs covered.

Now that spring is officially here (at least according to the calendar) now is the perfect time to spruce up your poolscape and get the area prepared for the fun festivities that are just around the corner. What are you doing to get your pool ready for spring?
