Babcock Ranch Custom Pool with an Infinity Spa and LED Magic Bowls
Completed in 2023, this Babcock Ranch project pairs a 445 square foot pool with a 6 foot interior diameter infinity style spa raised 18 inches above the pool. Glass tile, Ivory Travertine, raised columns, LED Magic Bowls, a sun shelf, and a Pentair ColorVision bubbler give the backyard several layers of detail while maintaining a clean overall layout.
The strength of this design comes from how those elements are balanced. The spa provides a clear focal point, the raised columns add height at the water’s edge, and the open screen design helps preserve the view beyond the pool. Rather than relying on one oversized feature, the project uses proportion, elevation, lighting, and material changes to create interest throughout the space.
Designing Around the View
The pool and spa were arranged so the backyard could feel visually open even with several elevated features. Raising the spa 18 inches creates separation from the main pool and gives the waterline another level without making the spa feel disconnected from the rest of the design.
Picture frame windows in the enclosure support that same idea. By reducing visual interruption across the primary sightlines, the enclosure becomes less dominant when looking out from the home and lanai. The pool, spa, and surrounding landscape remain the focus.
A two pump system supports the more feature rich layout and allows the pool and spa functions to be handled appropriately without asking one circulation system to do everything. The result is a backyard that can feel calm during everyday use and more animated when the water and lighting features are turned on.
Materials and Features
Infinity style spa: The 6 foot interior diameter spa is raised 18 inches, giving the pool a stronger focal point and making the transition between pool and spa more visually deliberate.
Glass tile: Glass tile was used throughout the pool and spa to add reflectivity and a more refined edge at the waterline. It also works naturally with the lighting features after sunset.
Raised columns and LED Magic Bowls: Two columns raised 12 inches support Hayward LED Magic Bowls. The added height helps frame the pool while the bowls provide another source of light and movement without closing in the view.
Ivory Travertine: Ivory Travertine keeps the deck light and neutral, allowing the water, glass tile, and illuminated features to carry more of the visual weight.
Sun shelf and ColorVision bubbler: The sun shelf creates a shallow place to relax and gives the Pentair ColorVision bubbler a natural location within the pool rather than treating it as a separate decorative feature.

What works well about the finished project is the way the elevated elements are distributed. The raised spa, columns, bowls, and bubbler all add dimension, but none of them compete with the pool itself.
During the day, the light travertine and glass tile keep the backyard bright. In the evening, the LED bowls and ColorVision bubbler give the space a different character without changing the clean geometry established by the pool and spa.
